Episode 4: Curmudgeon and the Shoes

One morning Suzy woke up to find that her dog had chewed up her work shoes.  Forgetting that she had a meeting to walk to that day, she wore heels instead.
That day, she walked to the meeting with Curmudgeon -- slowly.  The meeting went well, and Suzy took notes.  On the way back to the office, Curmudgeon shared his thoughts.  As they approached the office building, Suzy's heels gave out and she twisted her ankle.  "Ouch!" she whispered. 
"I'm going to go get some coffee.  Can you send me your notes?" 
"Yes," replied Suzy.  "Anything else?" 
"Yes!" said the Curmudgeon.  "Get normal shoes!"
Suzy walked into the building smiling, she knew Curmudgeon had been waiting for the right time to say that.  The shoes accommodated him.

Episode 3: End of the Day Buzzing

Suzy was sitting at her desk finishing work for the day.  It had been a long, peaceful and productive day with meetings.  The team seemed to be working smoothly together.  Then suddenly she heard the Queen Bee buzzing.  She heard aggravating whispers and the words "CIA" and "she said" and tense giggling.  Then she heard Queen Bee buzzing at Joe Leader about it, he said "So, ignore her.  Don't pay any attention to it."  Suzy heard more buzzing and then some giggling.  She went over to the Queen Bee's area, and said, "I'm hearing a lot of buzzing.  Is anyone's computer having issues over here?"  Queen Bee paused, confused.  Then she said, "Buzzing? No, I don't hear anything."  In the meantime everyone who had been cornered by the buzzing quickly left.  Suzy said, "Oh I guess I was hearing something out the window."  Suzy walked away with a smile.  Its office policy not to buzz about others in the hallways.

Episode 2: Frenchie is modest

Suzy was talking to Frenchie in part-English, part-French.  A colleague comes along, and speaks a third language to Frenchie.  Frenchie replies.  Suzy asks what language it was, and they said it was an African dialect.  "Frenchie, I had no idea you are fluent in so many languages.  Tres bien!"
Frenchie starts to look coy.
"What?" asked Suzy.
"Our culture is very modest," replied Frenchie.
"Lots of people are modest," said Suzy.
"But ... our people are really modest," said Frenchie.
"So .... I can't compliment you on the number of languages you speak?"
"Well you can," said Frenchie, "but I will be embarrassed."
Suzy burst out laughing.  "Frenchie, how do you get through annual review?  You are required to toot your own horn!"
"C'est difficile," replied Frenchie.
Suzy grinned at Frenchie and said, "You must practice.  I want you to say right now -- 'I speak 3 languages.'"
"No," replied Frenchie.
"Why?!" asked Suzy.  "It is a fact!"
"No, here is a fact.  I speak 5 languages!"
Suzy laughed and said, "You don't look embarrassed now."
Frenchie smiled.

Episode 1: A Taste of His Own Medicine

In today's episode, the team gave their client a demonstration, and the following occurred afterwards.

Nosy Parker: So the demo went really well.

Suzy Public: That's good, because Joe Leader wants to do that more often, as part of a new approach.

Nosy Parker is embarrassed at not knowing about the new approach, so he cracked a joke at Suzy's expense.  Suzy Public thought this was inappropriate, because Joe Leader really is trying a new approach, and everyone is supposed to know about it by now and take it seriously.  Suzy thinks about Nosy's refusal to acknowledge the greater point.  She decides to take a page from Nosy's book, and sends him a tactful email hinting that she hopes that one day, Nosy will decide to get up to speed.  Nosy, of course, doesn't like the taste of his own medicine.
